ROCK SPRINGS – For the 16th year, the Rock Springs Chamber of Commerce is proud to bring the Lighted Holiday Parade to downtown Rock Springs. With the help of many community friends and partners, including WyoRadio, Wal-Mart, Commerce Bank, Memorial Hospital, 1st Bank, Halliburton, White Mountain Mall, Western Wyoming Beverages, the Urban Renewal Agency, Rock Springs Historical Museum, and the City of Rock Springs, this year’s parade and downtown festivities are sure to be the best yet.
The parade begins at 5:30 p.m. and will follow this route: start at the Rock Springs Historical Museum, where there will be hot chocolate and cookies. The parade will then turn onto South Main Street. At the URA office, KQSW, 96.5 will be broadcasting the parade live. A short jaunt up E Street will lead the parade to the underpass and then onto M Street, Bridger Avenue and Pilot Butte. On K Street, in front of 1st Bank, the parade judges will reside and 1st Bank will be providing hot chocolate and hot apple cider. The parade will come to conclusion on the corner of North Front Street and Elk Street.
Each year, more and more residents congregate in downtown Rock Springs to celebrate the holiday season while enjoying the beautiful floats that participants painstakingly decorate with lights and music. It is a beautiful sight to watch as local residents and businesses showcase their community pride and creativity with differing vehicles lining the streets, adding not only lights, but the reminder that this season is all about family and friends and community. If you are interested in joining in the celebration and wish to enter a float, please stop by the Rock Springs Chamber of Commerce or visit the Chamber website at www.rockspringschamber.com to get an application. There is a $25 entry fee and all applications are due no later than Thursday, December 5th at 5:00 p.m.
The City of Rock Springs wants to ensure that December 7th is full of activities for every member of every family. At 1:00 p.m. at Bunning Park, Christmas in the Park will begin. Santa will be hearing from children as to their Christmas wish lists, warm beverages will be available, and charities will be present so that every resident has what they need during the season and beyond. At 5:00 p.m., the tree lighting will happen, and then the Parade will kick off the evening hours. Following the parade, Christmas in the Park will resume for all of the girls and boys who wish to spend more time in downtown Rock Springs.
