Aggravated assault suspect arrested

ROCK SPRINGS – According to the Rock Springs Police Department on Saturday afternoon, December 14th Detectives with the Rock Springs Police department observed a man covered in blood enter a motel room at the Saddle Lite Motel.  Contact was made with the man at which time it was determined that he’d suffered several significant lacerations about the head and face.

A suspect in the case was observed fleeing the area towards the Economy Guest Village Motel.  A police canvas of the area located an open room with what appeared to be blood on the door, and evidence of a disturbance inside the room.  No one was found inside the room.

RSPD Officers along with Law Enforcement officers from the Wyoming Highway Patrol and Sweetwater County Sheriff’s Department responded to the area in an attempt to locate the possible suspect in the assault.

A deputy with the Sweetwater County Sheriff’s Department located a man matching the description of the suspect hiding beneath the belt route overpass near 9th Street.  The man was detained and identified as Loren Walls, age 30.

Several interviews were conducted, and a Search & Seizure Warrant was executed on multiple locations at which time numerous items of evidence were seized.

Investigation identified Loren Walls as the suspect in the aggravated assault.  Walls was subsequently arrested on one count of Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon.
