Burbot Classic to Kickoff this Weekend

Get out those fishing poles and get out on the ice!

It’s time to catch some burbot and lake trout as part of the 2018 Burbot Classic Lake Trout and Fishing Derby. The Burbot Classic will take place this Saturday and Sunday, February 3 and 4, at the Buckboard Marina on the Flaming Gorge.

This year, in addition to the burbot category, a lake trout category has been added. Less than 28 inch pups can be caught, as the population of smaller trout is currently high.

Registration

The entry fee for the burbot category is $35, and people can register by clicking here. It is $25 to enter the lake trout category, and people can register by clicking here.

People can also bring their printed registration forms (burbot, trout) and payments to the Rock Springs Chamber, Green River Chamber of Commerce, or Buckboard Marina.

People can also register at the tournament, but the fee will be $40 for the burbot category, and $35 for the trout category.

Event Details

Fishing will start Saturday at 8 am, and will end on Sunday at 8 am. Only fish caught during this time period will be counted.

There is a limit of eight lake trout per fishing license, and no limit on burbot.

The Kids Fishing Contest will take place Sunday from 10 am to 12 pm.

There will be $10,000 tagged fish, and thousands of dollars in prizes.
