GREEN RIVER — The community has donated over $21,000 out of a goal of $50,000 towards helping the Smith family of Green River.
The Smiths were involved in a tragic February 1st accident on Interstate 80 that took the life of Kymbrlee Smith and sent her husband Sam Smith to a Utah hospital with serious injuries.
The couple’s three children were also in the vehicle and escaped serious physical injury.
The oldest child is reported to have kept his siblings warm for hours until help arrived.
The wreck is believed to have occurred earlier that morning around 2 am.
The vehicle was hidden from view after the crash.
The vehicle was not spotted until around 6 am according to the Wyoming Highway Patrol.
According to updates posted on the Gofundme account set up to help the Smith family, Sam’s condition is improving and he has been able to see his children.
