DWS OSHA encourages Wyoming employers to participate in national fall prevention stand-down event; Workplace incidents involving falls are a leading cause of fatalities and injuries in Wyoming

CHEYENNE – The Wyoming Department of Workforce Services (DWS) Occupational Safety and Health Administration division (OSHA) is encouraging employers in Wyoming to participate in a National Fall Prevention Stand-Down this week, June 2-6. This voluntary event is an opportunity for employers to talk directly to employees about fall hazards and the need to reinforce the importance of fall prevention to prevent injuries caused by falls from elevation.

“Fall prevention safety standards are among the top ten most frequently cited OSHA violations in Wyoming every year,” said Director of the Wyoming Department of Workforce Services Joan Evans. “Although these incidents are preventable, falls on the work site continue to be a leading cause of fatalities and injuries in Wyoming.”

Companies can conduct a Safety Stand-Down by holding safety-related discussions with employees or by participating in safety activities such as conducting additional safety equipment inspections, developing rescue plans or discussing job specific hazards.
