UPDATE — The individuals have been identified, according to the RSPD.
ROCK SPRINGS — According to a press release the RSPD is asking for the public’s help in identifying two suspects in an active investigation.
On Monday, 1/8/18, at approximately 4:30 pm two males entered the TJ Maxx store and walked west from one end of the mall to the other while throwing glass vials, filled with a light green liquid in them.
Mall security believed the odor of the liquid to be a gas leak and evacuated the mall. The gas company responded to assess the potential hazard. It was determined not to be a gas leak, and the mall reopened.
At approximately 7:30 p.m. a mall employee found the glass vials on the floor. The Rock Springs Police and Fire Department responded to investigate. The Fire Department analyzed the material using a Rigaku instrument to determine if there was a threat level. There was no threat detected from the substance.
Attached are photos of the male suspects. The first male suspects was wearing a camouflage jacket and pants and a black ball cap. The second suspect was wearing dark pants, a black and gray zip up hooded sweatshirt, and a black and white ball cap.
