ROCK SPRINGS — The local JCPenney store will close in early April of this year. The store has been a staple for local shoppers since it opened on March 29, 1978.
According to a corporate spokesperson, the company has decided to close a total of seven stores in the chain this year, a significant decrease from the number of closures reported in previous years. These locations represent less than one percent of the Company’s total store base.
The spokesperson said “We will continue to evaluate our stores to determine whether there’s a need to close locations that do not meet all required financial targets. It’s never easy taking actions that directly impact our valued associates and customers, however, we feel this is a necessary business decision.”
