Speak Up: Preparing For Surgery

At Memorial Hospital of Sweetwater County, your safety is our priority. If you are having surgery, we encourage you to bring a trusted friend or family member (advocate) with you on the day of surgery. This person can ask questions and help you while you are at the hospital and at home following your surgical procedure. Together, with you, your advocate and your care team, we will teach you how to care for yourself when you go home. We want to help make a plan that works well with your life.

On the day of your surgery, there are a few things you can expect. You will be asked by all members of your surgery team to identify yourself by name and date of birth. This will happen many times during your visit. The surgical site will also be marked by your surgeon the day of your surgery. Our goal with these actions is to ensure your safety.

Providing safe, quality care for you is our priority at Memorial Hospital of Sweetwater County. If you have questions or concerns at any time before, during, or after your visit, Speak UP! and take an active role in your healthcare.
