SWEETWATER COUNTY — Sweetwater County is seeing a small uptick in oil and gas production when comparing the 3rd quarter of 2015 to the same months in 2016, according to the Mineral Production Report from the Mineral Tax Division in Cheyenne.

The Mineral Production Report is a month-to-month comparison of Sweetwater County’s mineral severance values.

“The 3rd quarter (July, August, and September) finally started moving into positive gains for oil and gas production,” said County Assessor Pat Drinkle.

Typically, the Mineral Division sends out the report each quarter approximately four months after the last month reported. The 4th quarter of 2016 will be available sometime in April.

The uptick in oil and gas production is good news regarding revenue for the county.

“For every $100,000,000 in assessed valuation, equates to $1,200,000 actual dollars in their (the county’s) budget,” said Drinkle.
