WYOMING– Most single Americans prefer to live alone if they can afford to, but most have trouble balancing the bills. One company analyzed millions of rental listings from sources like Zillow, and broke down the best and worst cities and states in America for solo renters.
Turns out, some places offer a significantly better value than others.
Most Affordable One-Bedrooms
On average, the most affordable one-bedroom apartments in America can be found in West Virginia ($574), Idaho ($608), Wyoming ($643), Oklahoma ($645), and New Mexico ($649).
There is only a 78% increase in rent costs for those living alone compared to those living with a roommate in Wyoming.
Most Expensive One-Bedrooms
Overall, if you’re on a budget, these states may not be for you— New York ($2,2180 a month), D.C. ($2,157), Massachusetts ($1,941), California ($1,878), and Hawaii ($1,615)
