Alcohol Will Continue to Be Served at Bud Cup Hockey Tournament

ROCK SPRINGS – The Bud Cup Hockey Tournament is back for another year. The Rock Springs City Council approved three malt beverage permits for the event that takes place March 11-13 at the Rock Springs Family Recreation Center.

The request for the permits from Chad Moeller will be good on March 11 from 5:00 pm-11:00 pm, March 12 from 11:00 am-11:00 pm and March 13 from 11:00 am-4:00 pm.

Mayor Carl Demshar said alcohol will again be dispensed by using a beer garden. In the past, the event was put under the microscope after several complaints were filed with the city and the Rock Springs Police Department about behavior. The council worked with the organizers and allowed them to continue to serve alcohol at the event under strict rules.

Rock Springs Mayor Demshar said since the beer garden has been used, there have been no problems reported at the event. Councilwoman Rose Mosbey voted against the request. She has consistently voted against any request for alcohol permits inside the local recreation centers. She has gone on record several times saying alcohol does not belong in the local recreation centers.
