GREEN RIVER – John G. Legerski, 59, of Green River, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family, Sunday, January 17, 2016. A longtime resident of Green River and Rock Springs, Mr. Legerski died following a brief illness.
He was born on March 10, 1956 in Rock Springs, Wyoming, the son of the late John G. Legerski and Mary Elizabeth “Liz” McGee Legerski.
Mr. Legerski attended schools in Rock Springs, Wyoming and was a graduate of the Rock Springs High School with the Class of 1974. He earned his Bachelors of Music Degree in 1978 from the University of Wyoming.
He married Debra Ann Sargent in Rock Springs, Wyoming on June 7, 1980.
Mr. Legerski was a Band Instructor for the Green River High School for twenty one years and retired in 2001.
His interests included spending time with his family, being outdoors, music, watching Wyoming sports, and his beloved dog Harlow.
Survivors include his wife Debra A. Legerski of Green River, Wyoming, two sons: Christopher J. Legerski of Evans, Colorado and Philip C. Legerski of Green River, Wyoming; one daughter, Megan E. Legerski and fience Brad Layton both of Rock Springs, Wyoming; two brothers David Legerski of Rock Springs, Wyoming and Frank Legerski of West Plains, Missouri; one sister, Mary E. Peterson of Surprise, Arizona; several aunts including Annie Walker of Rock Springs, Wyoming Delores Clouse of Rock Springs, Wyoming, Bonnie Legerski of Rock Springs, Wyoming, Stella Wycoff of Sun City West, Arizona, Poldi McGee of Richmond, California, Arlene McGee of Citrus Heights, California. He also leaves behind numerous Cousins, Nieces and Nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, John G. Legerski, and his mother Mary Elizabeth “Liz” Legerski, and one brother Philip, who died in infancy.
Following cremation, a Memorial Services will be held at 6:00 P.M., Thursday, January 21, 2015 at the American Legion Archie Hay, 551 Broadway, Rock Springs, Wyoming. Friends may call one hour prior to services.
