FARSON-EDEN – The Farson-Eden basketball teams got a chance to sleep in their own beds and play in front of the home crowd over the weekend. The Pronghorns and Lady Pronghorns both finished 1-1 over the two-day stretch.
On Friday, the Farson-Eden teams welcomed Dubois to the court. Tragedy often puts sports in prospective as the entire state watched in sadness as a fire transformed the entire Dubois community. For the couple of hours on the court, the players have been able to escape. The teams have also seen first hand what the Wyoming spirit means as communities have been honoring the players and donating to help rebuild a community at road games.
Both Farson-Eden teams opened the season with wins over Dubois and took that momentum into the games. Over the past few games, the Lady Pronghorns have struggled to find offense. Against Dubois, they were able to get going  and were able to get their second win of the season with a 59-45 victory. On the boy’s side, it was a much closer contest. The Pronghorns were able to outlast Dubois to take a five-point win, 56-51.
On Saturday, the teams opened up conference play against Cokeville. Originally, the games were scheduled to be in Cokeville but a late change moved them to Farson-Eden. The Lady Pronghorns had a tough challenge as Cokeville entered the game as the top ranked 1A team in the state. The offense bug jumped up and bit the Lady Pronghorns again as they only managed 18 points while Cokeville rolled to a 52-18 win.
On the boy’s side, both teams entered Saturday’s game with the Big Piney Invitational still fresh on their minds. Farson-Eden was able to get a one-point win over Cokeville at the tournament in a non-conference game. On Saturday, the teams again left it on the court but this time, Cokeville was able to take escape with the close win, 44-38.
Both teams will remain at home next weekend with two more conference battles on the horizon. On Jan. 16, Farson-Eden will take on Little Snake River. The boy’s teams are evenly matched while the Little Snake River girl’s squad brings a winning record into to game. On Jan. 17, both teams will have a big challenge against Encampment. On the boy’s side, Encampment sits on top of the 1A Southwest Conference while on the girl’s side, Encampment is second, right behind top-ranked Cokeville.
