CHEYENNE – The Wyoming Department of Transportation has given a quick update on the current road closures in South-Central Wyoming.
They are planning to open 287 south of Laramie sometime this morning, as weather allows.
Regarding I-80 between Laramie and Cheyenne, maintenance crews are working on a couple of the larger drifts with the rotary plow. Once they are finished with that, hopefully we can open east bound from Laramie, where current wind speeds are 42 mph.
As for I-80 between Laramie and Rawlins, current wind speeds of 48 mph in the Arlington/ Elk Mountain area are creating dangerous visibility and drifting issues. At the present time, this road section is to remain closed with no anticipated opening time.
Most road surfaces are very slick with blowing/drifting snow.
