CHEYENNE — According to the Wyoming Department of Health (WDH), the number of COVID-19 Coronavirus hospitalizations stayed relatively stable over the weekend as active cases continued to decline.
As of December 20, COVID-19 hospitalizations in Wyoming sat at 162 patients, according to the WDH’s hospitalization report. Cheyenne Regional Medical Center and Wyoming Medical Center out of Casper both have 33 patients each. Campbell County Memorial Hospital has the next most hospitalizations with 25 patients.
Active lab-confirmed cases of COVID-19 is currently at 1,908. Active cases one month ago were in the 9,000s, with 9,838 cases on November 22.
Among Wyoming residents, there have been 36,392 lab-confirmed cases, 34,484 case recoveries, and 351 confirmed deaths since the beginning of the pandemic. There are currently 5,726 probable cases.
Sweetwater County
The WHD reports that among Sweetwater County residents, there have been 2,645 lab-confirmed cases since the start of the pandemic and 2,409 recoveries. There are currently 236 active cases and 15 deaths.
Nearly a month ago on November 22, there were 355 active cases in Sweetwater County and seven deaths.
Memorial Hospital of Sweetwater County (MHSC) reported seven COVID-19 hospitalizations on December 20, according the the WDH. As of December 20, MHSC had seven out of nine Intensive Care Unit (ICU) beds being used, leaving only two beds available.
The Moderna COVID-19 vaccine was approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) on December 18, and was issued emergency use authorization (EUA). According to Sweetwater County Public Health, the vaccine, along with the Pfizer vaccine, will be shipped to Sweetwater County this week for healthcare workers to use.
Sublette County
According to the WDH, Sublette County has 26 active cases, with 536 recoveries, and 5 deaths, for a total of 567 cases since the pandemic began.
