ROCK SPRINGS — the Actors’ Mission will perform the romantic comedy “Parfumerie” for six performances; December 12th and 13th at 7:00 pm,December 14th at 2:00 pm, and December 18-20 at 7:00 pm. Performances will take place at the Elks Lodge, 307 C Street in Rock Springs, with a complimentary dinner served one hour before each performance. Christina Magagna directs.
“Parfumerie” tells the story of Horvath and his co-workers at Hammerschmidt’s Parfumerie in Budapest. Horvath runs into trouble at work, just before he’s to finally meet a woman he’s fallen in love with through her letters. As he’s quickly to learn, love must have its humorous complications, and is sometimes found in the most unlikely of places.
The play was written by Hungarian-American playwright Miklos Laszlo and spawned several movie adaptations including “The Shop Around the Corner” with Jimmy Stewart and “You’ve Got Mail” with Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan.
The cast of “Parfumerie” features new and returning performers to the Actors’ Mission stage and will be Magagna’s directorial debut.
“Love and mischief are in the air in Hammerschmidt’s Parfumerie,” said Magagna, “Who is the mysterious and infatuating Box 1222? Who wrote the anonymous letter to Mr. Hammerschmidt that sets so much of the play in motion? The audience is in for a real treat in learning the answers to these questions and more. This show is the perfect way to kick off your holiday season on a light, feel-good note.”
“Parfumerie” will be the final production of the Actors’ Mission 2014 season. All Actors’ Mission productions are partially funded by Sweetwater BOCES.
