PINEDALE – Amy Hansen of Vernal Utah has died of her injuries which were received in a traffic accident in Sublette County on Aug 6. According to the Wyoming Highway Patrol, Hansen and her husband Ronald were riding their 2010 Harley Davidson Motorcycle 39 miles north of Pinedale on Us 191 North when Ronald attempted to pass a pair of pickup trucks collecting warning signs from the side of the road.
The warning signs were put in place as part of a weed spraying program along the shoulder of the road. Katie Sellers of Pinedale Wyoming was driving the lead truck. The trucks were displaying “Pass with Care” signs due to the nature of their work. Kellie Sellers was in the process of making a left turn into a private drive while the driver of the second truck was in the process of pulling onto the right shoulder of the road.
According to the Wyoming Highway Patrol Hansen attempted to pass both trucks and collided with Seller’s front quarter panel. Both of the Hansens were ejected from the motorcycle on impact.
Amy Hansen was transported from the scene via helicopter to Eastern Idaho Medical Center in Idaho Falls, Idaho, where she died two days after the crash. Ronald Hansen was transported via ground ambulance to St. John’s Hospital in Jackson. Hansen has been cited for unsafe passing.
