UPDATE — As of 1 pm Friday, Mission at Castle Rock already received enough monetary donations to cover the cost of the presents. They issued the below statement on their Facebook page.
GREEN RIVER — Mission at Castle Rock Rehabilitation Center has confirmed that they were recently burglarized and their residents’ Christmas presents were stolen and destroyed.
“As many of you may have heard, it is true, Mission at Castle Rock was recently burglarized. Our residents’ Christmas presents were ransacked. As you can only imagine this is devastating to the staff and residents here at Mission,” they wrote on their Facebook page.
The burglary is under investigation with Green River Police Department and very few details can be released at this time, according to Mission at Castle Rock.
If you have any information leading to this crime, please contact Green River Police Department Detective Corporal Karl Bode at 307-872-6188.
“We know how generous the community has been with the Angel Tree and unfortunately these are the presents that were destroyed,” they said in the Facebook post. “At this point, we have very few presents that are still available to give to our residents.”
Given that most of the presents were destroyed, Mission at Castle Rock is reaching out to the community once more to ask for assistance in monetary donations, as well as shopping and wrapping gifts.
“We will need all gifts dropped off by December 23, and monetary donations sooner so we can do any shopping that is needed. This is a particular trying time for all of us at Mission and we appreciate your continued support and prayers,” they said.
Yesterday, Mission at Castle Rock confirmed that they have had confirmed cases and suspected cases of COVID-19 Coronavirus within the facility. As of yesterday, all those infected were in stable condition.
