August BLM oil and gas lease sale nets over $11 million; Proposed parcels for November 2014 lease sale posted

CHEYENNE — The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) generated $11,064,900.00 for leasing rights on parcels offered at the BLM’s quarterly federal oil and gas lease auction held Aug. 5, in Cheyenne. Almost half of the bid and rental receipts go to the State of Wyoming.

Bids ranged from the federally mandated minimum of $2 per acre to a high bid of $4,900 per acre. Successful bidders also pay a $155 per parcel one-time administrative fee and a yearly rental of $1.50 per acre for the first five years of the lease and $2 per acre in years six through 10.

The next BLM Wyoming oil and gas lease sale is scheduled for Tuesday, Nov. 4, 2014, in Cheyenne.

Proposed parcels for November lease sale

The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) Wyoming State Office has posted its proposed list of parcels for the quarterly competitive oil and gas lease sale scheduled for Tuesday, Nov. 4, 2014, at the Holiday Inn in Cheyenne, Wyo. Doors open at 7 a.m. with the auction beginning at 8 a.m.

The posted list, which identifies 90 proposed parcels totaling 114,384.700 acres, initiates a 30-day public protest period.

The sale includes parcels located in Carbon, Lincoln, Sublette, Sweetwater and Uinta counties in Wyoming.

Copies of the complete November 2014 competitive oil and gas lease sale notice will be available at the sale and may be purchased in advance for $5 from the State Office at 5353 Yellowstone Road in Cheyenne, or by writing: BLM, Attn: Copy Work, P.O. Box 1828, Cheyenne, Wyo. 82003. Copies are also available for purchase from each BLM field office in Wyoming.
