Auto Burglaries Continue in Rock Springs

ROCK SPRINGS — After several reports of auto burglaries occurring this week, the Rock Springs Police Department (RSPD) is once again reminding residents to lock their vehicles.

According to a RSPD Facebook post on October 26, “We have received several reports this week of property being stolen from unlocked vehicles. We cannot stress enough, Lock It or Lose It!”

This isn’t the first time this has happened recently. Back in September, the RSPD was investigating auto burglaries and vehicle thefts. Most of the vehicles targeted had one thing in common, their vehicles were left unlocked.

The RSPD is asking residents to follow these simple tips:

  • Lock it: Lock your vehicle every time you leave it.
  • Hide it: Hide your valuables in your trunk or other compartments within the vehicle. Ideally, take your property with you.
  • Keep it: Personal responsibility is the best prevention to safeguard personal property and to prevent being a victim.

The RSPD is encouraging residents to report all suspicious activity to the RSPD by calling 307-352-1575.
