GREEN RIVER – A strong game from Taylor Stoeger and a big second half pushed the Green River Lady Wolves past the Natrona Fillies on Tuesday, 6-3. The win moves the ladies to 2-1 in conference play.
Stoeger, who had four goals on the night, scored her first goal in the first five minutes of the game to give Green River a brief lead. Natrona responded tying the game three minutes later and with 14 minutes left in the first half added a second to take a 2-1 lead. With eight minutes remaining in the half, Stoeger added her second goal of the game to even it at two heading into the half.
With the wind at their backs to start the second, the Lady Wolves took advantage. Carly Kettering put Green River up three minutes in and three minutes later, Stoeger found Chezney Mamalis to extended the lead to 4-2. With 26 minutes left in the game, Stoeger hit her third goal of the game putting the Lady Wolves up three. Natrona was able to get one back but Stoeger closed the door with four minutes remaining. She blasted a shot from 15 yards out which went over the goalie’s head and into the back of the net.
The defense would do the rest as they moved to 2-1 in conference and 5-4 overall with the 6-3 win. Natrona falls to 1-3 in conference play and 2-4 overall. The ladies have seven days off until the hit the field again. Their next game will be another important conference game as they travel to Jackson on April 18. The Lady Broncs are also 2-1 in conference play.
