Bond Reduced for Man Accused of Murdering Two-Year-Old Child

SWEETWATER COUNTY — The defendant in a first-degree murder case had his bond reduced from $1,000,000 to $500,000. The decision came about during a bond reduction hearing that took place today in the 3rd Judicial District Court of Judge Rick Lavery.

Jacob Rollen Anglesey has been charged with the death of two-year-old Konnor Allen. The case dates back to 2009 when the boy died from head injuries that are alleged to have occurred while he was in Anglesey’s care.

The defense was partially successful in arguing that Anglesey’s ties to the community limit his flight risk. Judge Lavery reduced Anglesey’s bond to $500,000, which was more than the $300,000 that the defense argued was appropriate.

Prior to the death of Konnor Allen and during the multiyear investigation that followed, Anglesey served as a Green River Police Officer. He is currently on leave from the agency pending the outcome of his trial.

The trial is scheduled to begin August 8, 2016.

Anglesey could face life in prison as prosecutors have declined to seek the death penalty against him.
