Tell us a bit about yourself…

My name is Cindy Lane and I have lived in Sweetwater County for 32 years.

My husband, Mark, and I raised our four daughters, Krystle, Kayla, Kelsey and Kiera in Rock Springs and all four graduated from Rock Springs High School.  I’m the grandmother to four amazing grandchildren, Caitlyn, Kylie, Kennedy and Kassidy.

I have an associate degree in Office Information Systems from Western Wyoming Community College and I graduated from the University of Wyoming with Bachelor’s Degrees in Sociology and Psychology and a Master of Social Work.

While in high school, I became interested in the law and politics and participated in a work-study program that allowed me to work for an attorney who was also had an interest in both of these areas.

I am grateful that I live in a country that allows its citizens the opportunity to be of service to the people of their communities.

What makes you the best choice for Sweetwater County Clerk?

I have many years of business experience and record keeping.  I was the vice president of my family owned business for many years, was a Commercial Loan Secretary for a major bank, and have worked for Sweetwater County School District #1 for the past 15 years.

Currently I am the 5-4 Precinct Committeewoman and the secretary of the GOP Central Committee for Sweetwater County. I believe it is important that the Clerk’s office demonstrates a high level of superior customer service in their day-to-day operations.

I will be committed to improving processes and procedures that meet the needs of all customers and I will treat every person with respect, dignity and courtesy.

I bring to the table 10 years of experience as a partner in a local business where I am a mental health therapist and Secretary of the Board of Directors.

These jobs and positions have provided me with the skills and knowledge to successfully manage staff, implement new ideas into the office, and to help make those transitions as smooth and efficient as possible.

I believe the road to successful change lies in elevated customer service and that the customer service attitude of “go above and beyond their expectations” will help transform the Clerk’s office as we move forward.

What do you hope to accomplish in your first year as County Clerk?

I believe that improved technological advancements have been made in the County Clerk’s office, but continued improvements are necessary in order to run an efficient operation.

Organized implementation of improved websites and customer service concepts will create a more structured environment geared towards helping individuals understand what documentation is necessary to file information at the Clerk’s office, whether that be what you may need to bring when applying for a marriage license, to what documentation and forms are necessary to title a vehicle.

I am committed to improving processes and procedures that meet the needs of all customers and will listen to suggestions for improvements to the Clerk’s office.

Another priority is implementing a program to maintain accurate voter rolls.  There are programs available to help counties with this process, and the process should be done on a yearly, if not quarterly, basis for the most accurate and up-to-date voter rolls.
