City of RS Restricts Gatherings to 15 People at its Buildings

ROCK SPRINGS — According to the City of Rock Springs Government’s Facebook page, “At the direction of the Mayor of Rock Springs we are implementing proactive measures to reduce the possible spread of COVID-19 and the Coronavirus in Rock Springs.”

The statement goes on to say the following:

“Effective immediately the following changes will take place and will remain in effect until March 31 or until further notice.

All city buildings will restrict gatherings of more than 15 people. We ask that you not enter a city building if you are unwell, have had contact with an infected person, or have traveled recently to a known area where active cases of COVID-19 exist.

The following measures apply to both the Family Recreation and Civic Center:
1. All classes are canceled including:
a. All swimming lessons
b. All instructor-led classes (Silver Sneakers, Yoga, Aquatic Classes, Zumba, HIIT, Pound, etc)
c. Youth programs (squirts soccer and Strider)
2. All scheduled birthday parties scheduled through March 31 will be canceled
3. Any scheduled outside organized groups using our facility will be canceled
4. No more than 15 people will be allowed to be gather in any one area including the gym, climbing wall, pool or weight rooms. THIS WILL BE ENFORCED BY STAFF!

Staff will decide in the next week how to handle membership extensions and/or refunds.

We regret that we must implement these changes, but they are in the interest of public health. We appreciate the public’s cooperation and understanding. We will save lives if we work together to contain the spread of this virus.”
