ROCK SPRINGS – In an economy that is all over the place, when was the last time anyone gave you something free? Well the Rock Springs Civic Center is doing just that.
On Nov. 26, the Civic Center is inviting the public to come and check out new changes to the building. Staff at the center believe the changes will make the center more user-friendly and comfortable for patrons along with being of overall benefit to the community.
Residents will be able to visit the Civic Center during regular business hours on Nov. 26. The open house will have different activities, information sessions and refreshments which will take place from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m.
At the Rock Springs Parks and Recreation meeting, City Councilman and Liaison to the Rec Board Billy Shalta spoke on the changes at the facility. He said the upgrades they made at the facility were very nice and really enhanced the quality of the building for staff and residents.
Park and Recreation Director Dave Lansang informed Shalta that invitations should be coming for the mayor and councilman but urged all residents to come out and enjoy the new changes.
Pool repairs
Although really not part of the upgrades at the Civic Center because the plaster around the pools is done periodically, Lansang did give an update about the Civic and Recreation Center pool projects.
He reported the plaster around the pool at the Civic Center is complete. At the Family Recreation Center they did not do any plaster work but as they inspected the pool area found that, due to an opening, some of the walls by the leisure pool had molded.
Lansang said the walls have been replaced and any openings have been fixed. Board member Lynne Demshar asked if that was the source of the bad smell around the pool. Lansang said it was and it should be gone now after the repairs.
