LUSK — A two-car collision near Lusk claimed the life of a 57-year-old Illinois man last Thursday evening.
The passenger has been identified as 57-year-old Juzer Chinwalla of Burr Ridge, Illinois.
This is the 66nd fatality on Wyoming’s highways in 2018, down from 95 in 2017, 74 in 2016, and 94 in 2015 to date.
According to the Wyoming Highway Patrol, troopers responded to the accident at milepost 195 on US 18 at about 10:30 p.m.
Reports say a 2014 Toyota Yaris was traveling northbound on US-85 when it collided with a 2010 Freightliner pulling a set of double trailers turning south onto US-85 from US-18.
The Toyota driven by another passenger collided with the rear trailer of the combination unit. All of the occupants in the Yaris were injured and transported to various hospitals.
Chinwalla was riding in the back and unrestrained at the time of the accident, according to the report. He later died at the Weston County Health Services Hospital.
Speed on the behalf of the driver of the Toyota and failure to yield on part of the Freightliner driver are being investigated as possible contributing factors to the crash.
