Commissioners to Consider Planning and Zoning Requests

SWEETWATER COUNTY– The Sweetwater County Commissioners will host a public hearing to consider some planning and zoning requests at Tuesday’s meeting.

Planning and Zoning Requests

Property owner Joshua Wells is requesting a Variance from the Minimum Lot Size in the Agriculture (A) Zoning District regulated in Section 5 of the 2015 Zoning Resolution.

Wells is also requesting a Zoning Map Amendment from Single Family Residential (R-1) to Agriculture (A) in accordance with Section 20 of the 2015 Zoning Resolution.

SBA Towers IX, LLC is requesting a Variance from the maximum height of structures in the R-2 Zoning District found in Section 5.G. of the 2015 Zoning Resolution.

The request is for a 275-foot height variance in order to install a 310 foot tower on a parcel of land which is zoned Mixed Residential and allows for the maximum height of structures to be 35 feet.

SBA Towers IX, LLC is also requesting a Conditional Use Permit to allow a Communication Booster, Repeater, Tower or Facility in an R-2 Zoning District as found in Section 5.F. and Section 7 of the 2015 Zoning Resolution.

This request if for approval to install a cell tower on a parcel of land which is zoned R-2 (Mixed Residential) and has received a recommendation for approval of a variance from the 35 foot maximum height of structures in the R-2 Zoning District.

Lastly, the Department of Sweetwater County Land Use is proposing to amend a select group sections of the 2015 Zoning Resolution to allow for accessory dwellings in place of guest houses.


The meeting is at 8:30 am on Tuesday, August 21 at the Sweetwater County Courthouse Commissioners Chambers.
