Concrete Barrier Replacement Begins East of Lovell on U.S. 14A

LOVELL – A $207,290 contract to replace a pair of 100-foot sections of concrete barrier is under way on U.S. 14A, about 20 miles east of Lovell.

Reiman Corp., of Cheyenne is the prime contractor on the project at mileposts 70.95 and 71.05 on U.S. 14A.

The repair project involves replacing two sections of concrete guardrail that were damaged in two different crashes involving semi-trucks.

“The old barrier did its job, and it needs to be replaced. This project will accomplish that and will improve highway safety on U.S. 14A,” said Wyoming Department of Transportation Resident Engineer Michael Miller of Basin.

Traffic movements are being reduced to a single lane in each direction during the project. Traffic signals are in place to control traffic movements.

Miller said motorists should expect delays of up to five minutes.

During the project, a 12-foot width restriction is in place, with a 40,000-pound weight limit, on U.S. 14A between Lovell and Burgess Junction.

Completion date for the project is Oct. 31, 2015.
