GREEN RIVER — Cornelio Montoya Jr., 71, passed away Thursday, August 9, 2018 at his home in Green River, Wyoming surrounded by his family.
He was a resident of Green River, Wyoming for 32 years, and is a former resident of Granger, Wyoming.
Mr. Montoya was born on July 29, 1947 in Taos, New Mexico, the son of Cornelio Montoya and Barbara Gonzales.
He attended schools in Rock Springs, Wyoming and was a 1966 graduate of the Rock Springs High School.
Mr. Montoya married Lydia Lovato on August 19, 1967 in Rock Springs, Wyoming.
He served in the United States Army for two years during the Vietnam War.
Mr. Montoya worked for the Union Pacific Railroad for 35 years, and he later retired as a section foreman in June of 2005.
He was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church.
Mr. Montoya enjoyed spending time with family, camping, fishing, and playing games with his family during gatherings.
Survivors include his parents; Barbara Montoya of Rock Springs, Wyoming, Cornelio Montoya and wife Clara of Fort Bridger, Wyoming, his wife; Lydia Montoya of Green River, Wyoming, three sons; Chris Montoya and wife Rosa of Lubbock, Texas, Mike Montoya and wife Melissa of Rock Springs, Wyoming, Ronnie Montoya and wife Melissa of Salt Lake City, Utah.
Also, one brother; Raymond Montoya of Rock Springs, Wyoming, seven grandchildren; Josh Montoya, Jordan Montoya, Vincent Montoya, Jennifer Petties, Ashley Ortiz, Samantha Revilla, Rilee Ridgers-Montoya, sixteen great-grandchildren, one aunt; Dee McBurney, two uncles; Raymond Montoya, and Chad McBurney.
Following cremation, a Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at 11 am, Tuesday, August 14, 2018 at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 900 Hitching Post Drive, Green River, Wyoming.
A Vigil Service with Rosary will be recited at 6 pm., Monday, August 13, 2018 at the church. Military Honors and inurnment will be held at the Riverview Cemetery.
Friends may call at the church on Monday one hour prior to the Rosary and at the church on Tuesday one hour prior to funeral services.
