SWEETWATER COUNTY – The Golden Hour Senior Center will be getting a used vehicle thanks to the Sweetwater County Commissioners.
In the June meetings, Commissioner Don Van Matre reported that during a meeting with the Golden Hour Senior Center, he was asked if the county had an extra vehicle they would possibly be willing to part with. Along with the age of the current vehicle, tight finances and an increase in participation and services were reasons for the request.
While there were some concerns noted at the June meeting, the county did go through its surplus to see what was available.
On Tuesday, County Purchasing Manager Marty Dernovich reported they had found an old vehicle used by the sheriff’s office which was reaching its age limit.
Commission Chairman Wally Johnson said he wanted everyone to understand this was a one-time deal. He said the county would not replace this car for the Golden Hour Center and any future deal would have to come back before the Board of the County Commissioners.
Commissioner John Kolb also wanted it stressed that the commission would not pay for any insurance or other costs associated with the vehicle.
