Cowgirl Basketball Travels to Face Air Force Tonight

LARAMIE– In its only meeting of the season, the Wyoming women’s basketball team will face the Air Force Falcons on Tuesday night. The game is set for a 7 pm MT tip time at Clune Arena in Colorado Springs.

Cowgirls Sit in First Place in MW

The Cowgirls enter the contest 20-7 overall and continue to sit in first place with a 13-3 conference record after a 74-57 win over Fresno State on Saturday.

Junior Bailee Cotton recorded her fourth double-double of the season with a career-high 19 points and 12 rebounds. Sophomore Taylor Rusk tied her career high as well with 19 points. She was 7-of-10 (.700) from the field and 5-of-7 (.714) from beyond the arc.

Senior Liv Roberts added 16 points, seven rebounds and five assists. Wyoming shot 27-of-49 (.551) from the field and 7-of-15 (.467) from beyond the arc. The Cowgirls had 22 assists on 27 baskets, 17 points off turnovers and out rebounded Fresno State 39-22.

Roberts Leads Cowgirls in Scoring and Rebounds

Roberts is averaging a team-high 14.0 points plus 6.0 rebounds per contest, which ranks 10th and 14th in overall games, respectively in the MW.

She is followed by Rusk who is adding 9.5 points and 3.0 assists, while Cotton is chipping in 8.6 points and a team-high 6.1 boards per game. UW is shooting 41.9 percent (580-of-1385) from the field and 75.3 (293-of-389) from the free throw line.

The Cowgirls are also outscoring their opponents 61.4-55.5 and out rebounding teams 33.9-31.4.

Air Force is 3-13 in MW Play

Air Force is 3-24 overall and 3-13 in league action after a 57-55 loss against Utah State on Saturday. Freshman Kaelin Immel leads the way with 14.4 points.

Fellow freshman Emily Conroe follows with 10.9, while senior Dee Bennett is bringing down a team-high 6.2 rebounds. As a squad, the Falcons are shooting 35.1 percent (545-1551) from the field and averaging 55.2 points per contest.

They return four starters and six letterwinners to a team that went 4-25 overall and 2-16 in the league a season.

About the Series

This will be the 52nd meeting between the two schools. Wyoming leads the series 49-2. The last time the two teams met was February 4, 2017. The Cowgirls came away with a 73-41 win.

Air Force is coached by Chris Gobrecht who is in her third season with the program.
