Cynthia (Cindy) Kay Smith, 65, of Eden, Wyoming, passed away Wednesday, March 3, 2021 at St. Mark’s Hospital in Salt Lake City, Utah with her loving son by her side.
She was born May 4, 1955 in Ellsworth, South Dakota; the daughter of Harlan and Ellen Smith. Cindy attended school in Memphis, TN and was a 1973 graduate.
Cindy was a resident of Eden, Wyoming for 23 years. She fulfilled her lifelong dream of owning and operating a farm/ranch with her son. She almost always completed every sentence with “I couldn’t do any of this without Thomas, he is such a great kid.” Her greatest joy in life was sharing her passion for the western way of life with her grandson. She sparkled every time she was referred to as “Granny”.
Survivors include one son, Thomas Van Smith (Sami Jo) of Eden, Wyoming; mother, Ellen Smith of Eden, Wyoming; four siblings, Harlan Van Smith Jr. (Debbie) of Rio Rancho, New Mexico, Georgia Chrystine Smith (Christopher) of Casper, Wyoming, Laura Gail Moren (Greg) of Keller, Texas, and Michael Edward Smith (Amy) of Bridgeport, Texas; one grandchild, Kensen Jeffrey Smith of Eden, Wyoming; 10 nieces and nephews, and an abundant amount of family and friends.
She is preceded in death by her father, Harlan Van Smith; and one sister, Karen Leah Mullin.
To fulfill Cindy’s wishes, she was cremated and there will be no funeral services. Thomas’ family would like to encourage all of her loved ones that the next time you enjoy your drink of choice, raise a glass in honor of Cindy’s memory.
