Darren Heslep Announced as New GRHS Principal

GREEN RIVER– The Sweetwater County School District No. 2 Board of Trustees unanimously confirmed Darren Heslep as the new principal of Green River High School during Tuesday night’s school board meeting.

Heslep is stepping into the position after Darren Howard resigned as principal in February. Howard served in the position since fall 2013. Staying with the school district, Howard will be teaching at Lincoln Middle School.

A Green River native, Heslep is coming back to his hometown from Rawlins, where he served as the Rawlins High School principal since fall 2018. Before moving to Rawlins, he taught and was an assistant principal in Green River.

With 30 years of experience in the field of education, Heslep has taught physical education, health, and industrial arts, and was an assistant principal prior to his position in Rawlins. He was also previously a wrestling coach in Green River for many years.
