CLOVIS, Calif. – Junior Audra DeStefano and senior Tyler Anderson won individual titles on Friday to pace the University of Wyoming’s four all-time top-10 marks during the day at the 2016 Mountain West Outdoor Track and Field Championships.

DeStefano was the top finisher in the women’s steeplechase at Veterans Memorial Stadium, while Anderson had the top mark in the men’s hammer throw. The Cowboys are fifth in the team race with 23 points, while the Cowgirls are seventh with 14 points.

After finishing second in the event the last two years, DeStefano won on Friday by bettering her own school record by four seconds at 10:07.35. The time ranks 20th in the NCAA this season. She claimed the 30th individual outdoor MW title for the Cowgirls and the first in the steeplechase since Emily Higgins in 2009.

Other notable performances for Wyoming included junior Cassidy Meade, who ran a personal-best 2:09 to qualify sixth for Saturday’s final in the 800 meters. Her time keeps her fourth in school history in the event. Redshirt freshman Jerayah Davis has been slowed by injuries this spring, but ran 11.81 in the 100 meters on Friday. The time placed her 15th in the field, but was seventh fastest in Cowgirl history.

Sophomore Jonah Henry ran the steeplechase for just the second time in his career and placed seventh in Friday’s final in a personal-best 9:17. Senior McKenzie Brogan qualified for Saturday’s 400-meter hurdles final in fifth at 1:00, while sophomore Heidi Pfoor did the same in eighth at 1:01.
