Embellishing Takes Poured Paintings A Step Further

ROCK SPRINGS — Artists looking for a fun multi-technique painting adventure will be interested in the next class offered at the Community Fine Arts Center.

Embellished Poured Painting Class will be taught by Shari Kumer on March 9 and 16 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Participants will learn the popular process to make a poured acrylic paint panel during the first session.

Returning the next week, artists will add metal shapes or additional painting with paint markers to complete a unique piece of art.

Shari Kumer is local artist, born and raised in Rock Springs. She earned a BS in Art from the University of Wyoming in 1988. Kumer has taught art for over 16 years for Sweetwater County School District Number One.

Currently teaching at Independence High School, she has also taught at junior high level and the summer art camps sponsored by Sweetwater BOCES and the Community Fine Arts Center.

Kumer recently has been teaching successful one session painting classes that combine creativity in a social atmosphere.

“The more I learn, the less I know,” said Kumer in her artist statement. “This quote really expresses how I feel about my journey as an artist. When I take classes and learn new things, I enjoy the challenge of pushing myself to experiment with new subjects, materials and techniques.”

A class fee will cover acrylic paints, a panel and all the supplies needed to complete a painting for each student. Pre-registration is required as space is limited. For more information and to register, visit or call the Community Fine Arts Center.
