Employees at the Rock Springs/Sweetwater County Airport receive special Christmas gift Wednesday

ROCK SPRINGS – The Rock Springs/Sweetwater County AIrport received a unique gift on Wednesday.

Entities are once again starting to look at next year’s budget and preparing requests. For the last several years, budgets have been very tight and entities have had to learn how to continue to move forward with less financing.

The Rock Springs/Sweetwater County Airport is one of these entities which have been affected by the tight budgets. Not only has the airport had to work within a limited budget, they have had to do this while costs continue to go up.

At the airport board meeting on Wednesday, the board discussed Christmas bonuses for the eight employees at the airport. In 2012 the employees received a $50 gift card from the Rock Springs Chamber of Commerce. WIth the incredibly tight budget in 2013, employees did not receive a bonus.

The board debated the issue and it was decided the airport would have enough money in the budget to once again do $50 gift cards from the Chamber.

Principal in charge of engineering at Airport Development Group Chuck Kellerman has worked closely on construction projects at the airport for more than 10 years now. After listening to the debate, Kellerman explained to the board ADG puts aside money for different things such as air shows but did not use it this year. Kellerman told the board ADG would match whatever the board agreed on for Christmas bonuses. This bumped up the employee bonuses this year to $100 gift cards.

The board was touched by the generosity of Kellerman. Chairman Dr. Sigsbee Duck said the employees at the airport are dedicated and work hard to make sure those using the airport have a positive and safe experience.
