ROCK SPRINGS — The new horse stalls at the Sweetwater Events Complex should definitely be completed and ready by summer and the National High School Finals Rodeo, July 15-21, Sweetwater Events Complex Executive Director Larry Lloyd told the Fair Board at their Tuesday evening meeting.
Events Complex Marketing & Events Manager Kandi Pendleton reviewed the most recent work that has been done on the stalls, providing the Fair Board with an overview of the information which she recently sent to Sweetwater County Grants Manager Krisena Marchal.
A Construction Update
With surveyors having completed the stall layout, “1,260 2’ by 3’ holes have been drilled for the Foundation Plan,” Pendleton said. “Each hole contains rebar and concrete, and the horse stall anchor plates have been set.”
Roof structures should be erected on all 784 stalls during the Spring Quarter.
Stall lighting is on order, paid for, and awaiting installation, Pendleton added.
Stall assembly has begun, with one barn unit completed with the roof structure.
Seven barn units have all of their sides erected.
When the horse stalls are completed, there will be a ribbon-cutting ceremony with local dignitaries invited, Lloyd said. “It’s a big event.”
“We have been able to keep the majority of our expenditures local so the money spent…is going back into the local, county and state economy,” Pendleton added.
