CASPER — The 3A and 4A state basketball championships kicked off this morning in Casper.

Midway through the opening game between the Green River Wolves and Cheyenne Central, the Wyoming High School Activities Association announced a decision to remove all fans and media for the rest of the tournament due to COVID-19 concerns.

According to WHSAA’s Trevor Wilson, the Wyoming Department of Health and Natrona County Health Department made the decision. The tournament will continue with players, coaches, referees and one school official for each team.

“As of now we are going to try and play the tournament. That’s the plan moving forward,” Wilson said.

SweetwaterNOW will post scores from the tournament as the information becomes available.
