SWEETWATER COUNTY — Candidate filing has started for the November General Election and a few people have already put their names in contention for local school board races.
Filing school boards, college districts, and special districts started Wednesday and ends Aug. 24.
So far, only two people have filed for Sweetwater County School District No. 1’s Board of Trustees. Laurel Gandy, who was recently appointed to the board following Dr. Chad Franks’ resignation, filed to seek election to one of two four-year terms on the board. Anyssa Zancanella has filed for election to one of two, two-year unexpired terms on the board.
In Sweetwater County School District No. 2, Daniel Flom filed for re-election to one of four positions on the board.
In special districts, Ronald Noble filed for election to one of two positions on the Eden Valley Rural Healthcare District. David Munoz filed for election to one of two positions on the Jamestown/Rio-Vista Fire District Board of Trustees, while Daniel Shedden has filed for election to one of two Jamestown/Rio-Vista Water and Sewer District Board positions. Keith Floyd has filed for the sole four-year position on the Sweetwater County Fire District No. 1 Board.
For the Sweetwater County Conservation District, Larry Hicks is the only person running for the one rural representative seat on the board, while Jean Dickinson has filed for election as the urban representative of the district, and Aaron Folks has filed for election as the district’s at-large board member.
