ROCK SPRINGS — The Office of Financial Aid at Western Wyoming Community College will host FAFSA Week beginning Monday, March 17, at the Rock Springs campus. FAFSA is the acronym for Free Application for Federal Student Aid, and next week’s events are designed to assist current and prospective students with their financial aid applications and provide them with useful information about scholarships and other resources.
Highlights of FAFSA Week include FAFSA Night on Thursday, March 20, from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m., and FAFSA Day on Saturday, March 22, from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m., both in Room 1407. During these times, current and prospective students can receive help filling out their 2014-15 FAFSA applications. Refreshments will be provided. Even students who plan to attend a college other than Western can participate in these events and receive help with their federal student aid applications.
Other FAFSA Week programs and events include:
On Monday, March 17, from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m., the Financial Aid Office’s St. Patrick’s Day Celebration, which includes snacks and a drawing for one of three grand prizes. Students who attend may also sign up in advance for either the March 20 or March 22 FAFSA session.
On Tuesday, March 18, at 2 p.m. in Room 1221, “Knowing Money,” in which Loan Officer Steve Davis will share valuable tips about how to manage money in college.
On Wednesday, March 19, from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. in the Financial Aid Office (Room 1004), Scholarship Application Day, at which students can be the first to receive scholarship applications for the 2014-15 school year. Students who drop by that day will also receive a packet of information about external scholarship opportunities.
The College’s financial aid representatives can also be heard Tuesday and Friday of next week from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. on 91.3 FM Mustang Radio, where they will discuss financial aid opportunities for current and future Western students.
