First Sublette County COVID-19 Coronavirus Case In Recovery

Health officials have announced the one confirmed COVID-19 Coronavirus case in Sublette County is now in recovery. Five people in Sublette County remain under quarantine, while 14 are self-isolating under the advice of medical professionals. As of Tuesday afternoon, 40 tests have been conducted in the county, four of which are still pending results.

“That’s great news for Sublette County to have our only confirmed patient recovered,” said Public Information Officer Travis Bingham. “Wyoming is the only State without a COVID-related death. We want to keep these numbers that way.”

According to Tuesday’s press release, COVID-19 has been confirmed in 17 of Wyoming’s 23 counties, and is present in all counties surrounding Sublette County.

Bingham said the Pinedale Medical Clinic is able to conduct COVID-19 tests, but the number of tests available are limited. If someone believes they have COVID-19 or is ill, they need to call the clinic prior to arrival and follow provider instructions for treatment and testing.

The lack of access to testing in the county is frustrating efforts to detect the virus, and state health officials have imposed more restrictions on who can be tested due to nationwide shortages in testing supplies, stated Sublette County Health Officer Dr. Brendan Fitzsimmons in Tuesday’s release.

“We feel pretty positive that we have more than one positive case here,” said Fitzsimmons. “This means that our mitigation strategies are even more important.”

Fitzsimmons stated quarantined individuals are monitored by health officials to make sure they are doing well medically and to arrange any needed services. Public health officials also investigate any contacts they’ve had with others who may also need to be quarantined.

“We encourage anyone who is able to continue to support the businesses that are open when they can and understand and support those which cannot and are feeling the effects more so,” said Bingham.

“Obviously many people and businesses are feeling the effects of COVID-19 right now, but Sublette County has always been such a resilient community.”
