ROCK SPRINGS – One last check to make sure everything’s perfect because it will all be over in a matter of seconds. It’s what the best cowboys and cowgirls around the world experience every time before taking a run that could move them up the national rankings or drop them down.
Some of the Nation’s best will again hit the dirt at the Sweetwater County Events Complex Indoor Arena for Wyoming’s only indoor rodeo.
The rodeo gets underway on Oct. 23 and runs through Oct. 25. Gates open at 6 p.m. with action getting underway at 7:30 p.m.
The Mountain States Circuit Finals features the top 12 PRCA rodeo cowboys & cowgirls from the region in each event for a total of 96 top level rodeo athletes. Â It’s first class rodeo action in an indoor arena setting that is up close & personal, or as the Sweetwater Events Complex likes to say, “Rodeo so close you’ll be tasting dirt too.”
This year, the Sweetwater Events Complex will have a new feature. After the rodeo action is over, stick around as Nowhere Fast will play on both Friday and Saturday night. The Events Complex will also host the award presentation on Saturday night at the arena.
Some of Wyoming’s best will be returning to Rock Springs including a Sweetwater County Bull Rider who played on the basketball court for Farson-Eden and has been successful in rodeo arenas at an early age.
Former Sweetwater County residents Seth Glause will be making a return to the Sweetwater County Events Complex. Glause competes at the top level of rodeo and is one of a handful of cowboys who can say he is a National Final Rodeo Bull Rider.
Another Wyoming cowboy who will be at this year’s event is Jhett Johnson. Johnson, 2011 World Champion Heeler, should be making a repeat appearance at the Mountain States Circuit finals. Jhett is one of several past champions and NFR qualifiers who will be competing at the event.
The Mountain States Circuit Final is also hoping Wyoming’s J.R. Vezain will be competing in Rock Springs. He has solidified his third straight qualification for the Wrangler National Finals Rodeo. J.R. is 10th in the world in Bareback Riding with over $70,000 in earnings this year. He’s also 10th in the Mountain States Circuit and the SEC said they hope to see him at the circuit finals here at the Events Complex in October.
