Four Long-Term Library Employees Retiring

SWEETWATER COUNTY – The Sweetwater County Library System is saying goodbye to four long-term employees.

Carla Perez, Micki Gilmore, Barb Killpack, and Ellen Newell are all retiring from the library system in June and July. These four employees have put many years and a lot of heart into their work for the library.

Perez, the Technical Services Manager, has worked for the library system for 38 years. She is currently the longest-serving employee on staff. In her tenure, she has helped process and catalog hundreds of thousands of materials before they hit the library shelves.

Gilmore, a Reference Librarian at the Sweetwater County Library, has worked for the library system for 22 years. Known for her expertise in genealogy, many have sought her help in starting family history projects over the years. Micki also helped create the library’s Ghost Log and led the library’s Ghost Walks.

Killpack, Homebound/Outreach Services Coordinator, has worked for the library for 16 years. In her tenure, she has delivered books to hundreds of homebound citizens in Sweetwater County who couldn’t travel to the libraries themselves to check out books. She also brought library services to the area’s senior centers and nursing homes.

Newell, a Reference Librarian at White Mountain Library and the library’s Rural Branch Coordinator, has worked for the library system for 13 years and has worked in all three main libraries. Also an artist, Newell’s prints are hanging throughout the library system and in several other Wyoming libraries.

“All of these ladies have had significant roles in the organization,” said Library Director Jason Grubb. “We will miss all that they brought to the library system and the impact they made on Sweetwater County.”
