ROCK SPRINGS — Gary Dewayne Nellen, 66, passed away on Wednesday, July 18, 2018 at his home surrounded by his family. He was a lifelong resident of Rock Springs, Wyoming. He died following a lengthy illness.
He was born on April 7, 1952 in Rock Springs, Wyoming, the son of Glenn Nellen and Dorothy Lloyd Nellen.
Mr. Nellen attended schools in Rock Springs, Wyoming.
He married Mitzi Miller on May 25, 1974 in Rock Springs, Wyoming and she preceded him in death on February 17, 2007. He married Brenda Peterson on September 22, 2012 in Kemmerer, Wyoming.
Mr. Nellen was veteran having served the United States Marines during Vietnam and a member of American Legion Archie Hay Post #24.
He was employed by FMC for 41 years as an operator. He retired on May 14, 2014.
His interests included snow machining, motorcycles, hunting, fishing camping and just about anything in the great outdoors.
Survivors include his wife, one son, Robert Nellen of Rock Springs, Wyoming, three daughters, Frosti Davis of Rock Springs, Wyoming, Amber Morgan and husband Wes of Rock Springs, Wyoming and Erin Nellen and partner Jason Peterson of West Beach, Virginia, one sister, Anita Cleveland and husband Dan of Rock Springs, Wyoming, one sister-in-law Linda Nellen of Rock Springs, Wyoming, nine grandchildren, one great-grandchild, one aunt, several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife Mitzi Nellen, and one brother Robert Nellen.
Following cremation there will be a celebration of Gary’s life at 6:00 PM Friday, July 27, 2018 at the old American Legion Building, 543 Broadway, Rock Springs, Wyoming.
