ROCK SPRINGS – Mark June 14 on the calendar as the 4th annual Bark in the Park event received final approval by the Rock Springs City Council.
This event has not only been a big fundraiser for the Red Desert Humane Society but has also been an educational experience for pet owners and those looking to adopt a furry family member. This year’s events will see some small changes.
In the past, vendors have been for the most part outside the park. This year, they will move inside. During the event, the side gate in the front of the Bitter Creek Bark Park will be open so the vendors will have an easier access to their booths.
With the vendors in the park, the Red Desert Humane Society is asking for all dogs to be on leashes. This is backwards of how the park is usually ran by the city. The small dog park will be available for dogs who need to be off their leashes for a bit.
The event starts at 8 a.m. with the Paws and Sneakers 5K run, there will also be a long dog derby which are Dachshund races and other pet games. The Red Desert Humane Society and the city of Rock Springs are reminding residents that park rules do not allow children under 8-years-old in the park.
Residents can get registrations for all events by contacting the Red Desert Humane Society by phone, 362-1636, or email at rshumanesociety@gmail.com. The humane society also said watch their Facebook page for details about specific events or opportunity’s to have a booth at the event.
