Girl Scouts Will Host Veterans Day Lunch

GREEN RIVER — The Girl Scouts of Green River will be hosting a free spaghetti luncheon for all veterans. The luncheon will be held on Saturday, November 12th from 12-2 at the Golden Hour Senior Center in Green River.

Cadette and Senior Girl Scouts will perform a flag ceremony at noon and Brownie Girl Scouts will provide entertainment throughout the luncheon. Decorations will be provided by the Daisy Girl Scouts and Junior Girl Scouts will be serving attendees.

The Green River Girl Scouts have hosted a free meal for veterans for the past ten years. “I remember doing this when I was a Daisy!” said 14-year-old Sheridan Sherwin, now a Senior in Troop #1041.

“It’s important for our girls to recognize the sacrifice and commitment our servicemen and women have made,” said Jamie Cory, co-leader of Troop #1322.

“It’s nice that all our veterans can get together for a meal and chat with other veterans and share stories,” said Vicki Oliver, co-leader of Brownie Troop #1671 and former PVT in the US Army National Guard.

“I’m excited to serve lunch this year!” added 10-year-old Katherine Bronstein, a Junior in Troop #1322.
