GREEN RIVER — The Green River Chamber of Commerce unveiled their new Gateway and Visitor Center sign this month located at 1155 W. Flaming Gorge Way. The Chamber applied for a sign grant from the Wyoming Office of Tourism in May of this year and was awarded the $10,000 grant in July. The City of Green River covered the 25% matching funds needed through in-kind landscaping work completed by the Parks and Recreation Department. The sign is double sided so travelers are able to view the sign from either direction when off Flaming Gorge Way.

The Green River Visitor Center has seen between 17,000 and 18,000 visitors come through its doors every year since it opened in 2011. Year to date, walk in traffic is up four percent. The addition of the sign will increase traffic through the center. The more traffic through the center, the better as Chamber staff members encourage visitors to stay around for awhile and suggest places to eat, shop, and sleep which helps boost the local economy.

The Chamber would like to thank the Wyoming Office of Tourism for the grant and the City of Green River Parks and Recreation Department for the excellent work they completed on the landscaping.
