Green River City Council Encourages Volunteerism with Extra Mile Day

Extra Mile Day encourages community service and volunteerism to better the community and lift fellow residents up.

GREEN RIVER — Green River Mayor Pete Rust proclaimed November 1, 2020, as Extra Mile Day in Green River during Tuesday night’s City Council meeting, encouraging residents to “go the extra mile” in personal effort, volunteerism, and service within the community.

“Green River, Wyoming, is a community which encourages its citizens to maximize their personal contribution to the community by giving of themselves wholeheartedly and with total effort, commitment, and conviction to their individual ambitions, family, friends, and community,” the proclamation reads.

The proclamation states Green River is a community that chooses to celebrate and “shine a light” on individuals and organizations who work to make a difference and lift up fellow community members.

“I urge each individual in the community to take time on this day to not only ‘go the extra mile’ in his or her own life, but to also acknowledge all those who are inspirational in their efforts and commitment to make their organization, families, community, country, or world a better place,” Mayor Rust read from the proclamation.

The mission of Extra Mile America is to create 500 Extra Mile Cities.
