GREEN RIVER — The Green River City Council will host one of its busiest meetings Sept. 1, with two presentations, two public hearings, three proclamations, two homeland security grant applications and two homeland security grant amendments up for ratification.
The Council will consider authorizing the submission of two state homeland security grant applications. The first grant would include the purchase and installation of a back-up generator for the recreation center. The second grant would fund the purchase and installation of fencing at the wastewater treatment plant. The grants would be 100% federally funded.
The Council will also consider ratifying amendments to two previously awarded state homeland security grants to install a transfer switch at Expedition Island and a security camera system at the wastewater treatment plant. The projects have taken longer than expected and would give the city an additional six months to complete the work.
The Council will hear two presentations, one for the recognition of Jim Byington for 38 years of service and one from the Sweetwater County Solid Waste Disposal District No. 1’s recycle center committee.
Two public hearings will also be held. The first hearing is for a new restaurant liquor license application filed by Mi Ranchito. The second public hearing will be for a special use permit for a single-family residence with five dogs.
The Council meeting takes place at 7 p.m. at Green River City Hall. The meeting is open to the public and will be streamed on the city’s YouTube channel. An agenda can be found here.
