Green River Girl Receives Minor Injuries in Friday Accident

GREEN RIVER –  An 11-year-old girl was uninjured after being struck by a vehicle on Friday.

According to the Green River Police Department, on August 19 at approximately 07:10 a.m. Green River Police Department Officers and Castle Rock Ambulance Services responded to the area of Astle Avenue and Uinta Drive, in reference to a cyclist and vehicle collision.

Officers arrived at the scene and determined an 11-year-old female cyclist was crossing Astle Avenue from north to south, not in a crosswalk and a collision occurred with a passenger vehicle that was traveling eastbound on Astle Avenue from the intersection with Uinta Drive.

The driver of the vehicle stopped, checked on the child and called dispatch. The child was checked on scene by Castle Rock Ambulance Service and released to a parent with minor injuries.

The driver, Edwin Timmons, age 60 of Green River, was issued a citation for inattentive driving. Sun glare and improper road crossing were reported as contributing factors in the incident.
